I'm so excited to announce that moving forward, we will be donating $1 from every sale to rural mental health initiatives. Mental health has always been something that I am passionate about. Talking openly about my own struggles (with a mental health counsellor and informally with friends and family) has helped me so much - it instantly takes away the power of the thoughts.
I want to do everything I can to reduce the stigma around mental health in hopes that it might make someone else feel better and maybe even save a life. Did you know there is a lower risk of depression in rural populations, but an increase in negative mental health outcomes, including suicide? This is a very complex issue but one explanation for this is that there is limited access to mental health services in rural communities. There are so many amazing initiatives and agencies in rural Ontario that are addressing this issue, making it easier and easier for people living in rural areas to access mental health services. One of my favourites is Wes for Youth Online.
I will be sharing more rural mental health information and stats on my social media feeds moving forward and will announce the agencies and initiatives we will be donating to. $1 from every.single.sale, including online on Acre75.ca, in person at my pop-up shops and each Acre75 Gathered box will be used to help reduce the stigma.
