Our 2026 Fall Acre75 Gathered Box featured Hand-Painted Stickers from Nicnacs Crafts. Inspired by the cozy moments of the season, this set of hand-painted stickers began as original sketches before being carefully painted and printed into the beautiful designs you see today. Meet Nicole from Nicnacs Crafts
Nicole's favourite part about living in a small town is the community. On any given outing, she typically runs into someone she knows - a friend from high school, a farmer who works with her husband, or a mom she met at playgroup. She loves recognizing people from all walks of life and being recognized in return: checking in on how things are going, helping each other out, and enjoying a little friendly competition at the local fair. There’s something really special about knowing the people around her and feeling like she belongs.🏡
The day to day variety is what Nicole loves most about running a small business. She has a PhD and works as a university professor, but is also an artist, so has never felt like she neatly fits into a box. She can be analytical in one moment and creative the next, so owning a business gives her a chance to use all of those skills. If she gets bored with one thing, there are ten other jobs she can jump into that use a different part of her brain. She loves that no two days look quite the same! ✨
If Nicole could travel anywhere in Canada, she would love to travel up the western coast of British Columbia. A dream trip of hers is to take the Rocky Mountaineer north through the mountains, then return south by a coastal cruise. It would be such a beautiful way to experience both the mountains and the coast! 🇨🇦
Nicole has had the opportunity to support her community in many ways. From painting banners for her local VBS and hosting free community paint nights, to donating products to different events and fundraisers. Recently, she designed and donated postcards featuring historic photos to raise money for the Palmerston Heritage Railway Museum. She also loves collaborating with local businesses. She's partnered with two local farms to host art workshops, bringing people out to experience local agri-tourism. She consigns with local shops and uses her newsletter and social media to help introduce her customers to other small businesses in the area. Likewise, she sources her products and packaging within Ontario to support the broader local economy. To Nicole, being a small business owner in a small town is not just about selling her products - it’s about using her skills, creativity, and connections to contribute to the community around her. ❤️
