Nothing like a letter from the past to give you a little dose of perspective of how far you have come. I came across this letter that I wrote to myself last December and packed away with the Christmas ornaments, waiting to be read when I decorated our 2017 Christmas tree, which happened to be last night.
I thought against sharing this letter as it is quite personal but I decided to share it as proof that a ton (x100000) of hardwork, passion and dreaming really does pay off.
Last year at this time Acre75 Gift Box Co. was not an idea, not even a concept. By this time last year, after a lot of research and a lot of undue pressure on myself to start a business before my maternity leave ended, I knew I wanted to start an online business. It was a very intentional and conscious decision. I didn't want to be tied down to a bricks and mortar location so my husband and I could visit our families (who live in different towns than us) whenever we wanted to.
In early January of 2017, the idea of starting an online store began to formulate. I didn't want it to be like all the other online stores who dropship their products from China (I did a ton of research on this and it felt wrong, it was against my values). I wanted my online store to be different. I wanted it to be a meaningful and fulfilling online shopping experience. I wanted to support Canadian while honouring my small town upbringing. And so I did just that.
Every item for sale on www.acre75.ca is handcrafted in a small town or rural area of Canada. I source the products (one of my favourite parts of the business!) and pick, pack, wrap and ship all orders from our home in Milverton, Ontario. I looove showcasing all of the high-end, on trend items being made in small towns across Canada!
I am so proud of what I have created in the short seven months since launch and am so excited for what 2018 will bring for Acre75 Gift Box Co. It's going to be BIG!
I am also happy that I won't be needing to give myself a kick in the ass!
'Virginia-from-the-past', I'm happy to tell you that we are fulfilling our dreams #yougogirl
